Synertek and MOS 6504 Die Shots

We're de-packaging, photographing, and processing a few 6504 chips. The original design is from MOS and is nearly identical to the 6502, but this chip was also fabricated by second-source companies. Our first is from Synertek, made in 1983.

Our second is from MOS and was packaged in the last month of 1975.

Another is from January 1976.

And finally another from Synertek packaged at the end of 1975.

All images were shot by Greg James in San Francisco, then transmitted to the UK where Christian Sattler automatically corrected and stitched them together using a combination of Autopano-sift-C and custom code. A map of stitched images is shown on the right.
